Unit 10: Script to screen
Took us almost 2 weeks, because of people not finishing work on time, but we finally got given our job rolls. My job rolls are script supervisor and set destine. My pre-production rolls are writing the location Recce's, risk assessments, set destine, production schedule and call sheets. Emily is in charge of me and Ellie when it comes to set destine, so we have to collaborate together, then confirm it with Coutney who is the director. For script supervisor, I also have to talk to both Keon and Jacob who are on camera and sound, and I would have to write down the take that we decide one take is better than another, to make it easier when it came to editing. I also have to pay attention to what people are saying when filming, so if they get it wrong, I can show Courtney what the line was, and she can make the decision to do it again the correct way or leave it like it was if she thinks its natural. I am also on Marketing, but again Emily is in charge of both me and Ellie.

Dark room - Test edit
For this, Blue set everything up, which left me wondering what to do because I was set design. However, I am pretty sure I would be the only one on set design on the actual day(s) so what Blue did, gave me an understanding about the set destine I would need to do when we film the dark room scene. At one point in the shoot, I was given a spray bottle to make the pictures wet, but when I sprayed it, Blue was standing directly in front of where I was spraying and I didn't know how powerful it was until I squirted it and after that, Blue used the trays to make the pictures wet which I thought was quite funny. The thing that made it funnier, was the fact that I squirted it several times to get the pictures wet and I accidently hit Blue every time.

For this, Blue set everything up, which left me with nothing to do again as I was set design. However, I am pretty sure I would be the only one on set design on the actual day(s) so what Blue did, gave me an understanding about the set destine I would need to do when we film the studio scene from both the couple's perspective and Amy's perspective. Anyway, as I was given not much to do, I got pulled into a shot that they needed of Amy, but after that, I just took a lot of BTS, even that wasn't my job.

BTS of test shoot at the shop
Today, me, Emily, Josh, Blue and Chris all walked down into Bodmin to Weatherspoon's from college. Everyone else went in others cars and met us down there, we did a small recce of the shop, it rained a little bit when we got down there, but fortunately there was shelter we could stand on. then Me, Emily, Josh, Blue and Chris, all walked back up the massive hill, while everyone else drove. Me, Emily and Josh struggled to get up the hill, unlike Blue and Chris who somehow got miles ahead, even though we all set off at the same time.

The day before we shot in the studio, on the Wednesday in last lesson, me Emily and Courtney came in to do the set design in the studio. We set it up perfectly. The next day, when I wasn't in the studio, Blue decided to put the blue backdrop down for the couple and when I came back in, she was putting the black backdrop down or the reverse shot of Amy, I told her that we used the white backdrop in the lighting test shoot and she said; "Oh, that's right. They know what they're doing." Then after she put the black backdrop up and put the white backdrop down again, she basically did my job for me and put the coffee table and the plants in front and around the sofa, which actually quite annoyed me because that was my job. Then I went back into the classroom

where Robbin and Charley had arrived, so Emily gave them their costumes and they changed into them in the bathroom. Then a few minutes later, Blue took us all to the studio and Blue then set up the lighting, even though Ellie was there. Then Matt and linsey arrived in their costume. We took absolutely ages to film the first take, as Blue and Keon where all doing the set design and lighting for me and Ellie. It wasn't the fact that we couldn't be bothered to do it, it was just the fact that they didn't tell us to move anything and just moved it themselves. Something that I was able to move, was the pillows, as it Kept falling over and off the sofa, in the end, I left it to stand like a normal pillow and discard what Blue did, which had them on their corner. this meant there was continuity, but only in the first shot as I left them when we changed to the second shot. Linsey and Matt where both very good actors and only messed up a few times. I was also script supervisor, which meant I had to write down the slate number that we were going to use and the file names of the audio and the camera, however many cameras there were. The slate number and Audio file where easy, Josh and Jackob told me when I asked them for it, the camera crew on the other hand took ages to get the number off, I would sometimes not even get the number and wrote in the notes, that they would have to look at Joshes slate number. To film one shot to the next, took roughly 30 minuets, if we changed a shot - The camera was in a different position - The length of waiting time increased to about 40 minuets to 1 hour. Towards the end me, Ellie, Courtney and Emily where all sitting down because we had nothing to do as our jobs where being overshadowed by the boys and Blue. I was still doing script supervisor, but I was sitting down, because I was waiting for the shot to be said it was good and that was taking forever. if we weren't faffing around all day, we could have filmed all of that in 3-4 hours, rather than the entire day. For the BTS teem they filmed a lot at the beginning of the day and slowly lost interest as the day continued. For Robbin and Charly, they were also waiting around for when they needed to shoot which was towards the end of the day, however they did stayed as they had nothing else on. Today, I had 3 people explain my script supervisor job to me, once from Blue, a second time from Linsey and a third time from Chris. I know what to do! As shocking as it may be, I did do my research on my job roll and I can do it without people telling me how to do it. Tomorrow, we are going to film the montage, hopefully on that day, we would film/ take pictures faster and me and Ellie would be able to do our jobs and not have people do them for us.

The set was left as it was Yesterday, the sofa was left as well, even though they said it was going to go back. I came in really early to do set design, but there was no point because we didn't have to do much to the set design as it was already set up in the same positions the day before. Robbin didn't show up today, until we had to come out of the studio period 3, this meant Emily didn't have anything to do as she was waiting around for Robbin to show up. Later we found out that she didn't know she had to come until 12:00 which was quite annoying for everyone, because now we have scrapped the idea of Robbin changing costume for the sequence as there is no time. Emily was annoyed at this as she had bought a lot of costumes, that we decided not to use. Anyway, when David arrived, at college, the boys set up for him, even though I was in the room and had nothing to do, they did it without telling me how and what to set up. By this point Me, Emily, Ellie and Courtney had sat down in the same place as yesterday, basically watching the boys do our jobs for us, because we knew they were just going to do them anyway even if we tried to do our jobs. We

filmed David first in his casual clothes, then after we filmed him, (Which took ages to get to the first take, like yesterday by the way.) he went off to change into his smart cloths and Keon changed the backdrop from white to Yellow for the 4 teachers in Christmas jumpers which we very quickly took pictures of in different positions. Then David came back in, dressed in a sute, then we got the 4 teachers out and Keon put the yellow backdrop back up and put the white one back down, put the seatback into frame and quickly took pictures of David with a briefcase. Then David left and Keon put the yellow backdrop down and Blue got me, Emily, Ellie and Courtney to wear Christmas jumpers, stand in front of the camera and awkwardly laugh as they filmed us posing for a picture. Then we when on a brake and the BTS teem decided to do interviews with people in front of the yellow backdrop and ended up only getting one good interview with Courtney and Keon. Then I went to change the backdrop and I realised there was a light on the backdrop, so I went to go move it and when I was just about to change the backdrop, Keon whizzed past me and did it for me. I looked at him for a second, then sat back down with the girls and watched as Blue, Keon and Barn took down the blue backdrop and moved the sofa on to the backdrop. Then 2 staff came in and sat on the sofa, Blue briefed them on what they had to do, and Emily got them a ring box as a prop. We then spent a while setting up for the shot and then we filmed the proposal about 4 to 5 times. While me and the girls were waiting, we decided to wrap the baby in its blanket, so when we finished the filming part, they would get the baby straight away. When I gave them the baby, they looked at me, like I was a little weird, but then Blue took about 4 to 5 pictures of them with the baby and then we were done, so we packed everything away as someone was going to use the studio after us and we went to next lesson. As script supervisor, I gave Jackob the clip bords that I was and ordered all the audio and video filles.

Today I came in to college early to do set design in the studio as we where supposed to film Chris, Blue and her child with the folling picture to be Blue’s child and Chris in blck cloths to sugets that they had died. That did not happen however, this was because Blue’s child was ill, so he or she couldn’t come in. So we desided to get random members of staff to pose in front of the camera. This time, me, Emily, Ellie and Courtney where doing our jobs, chris asked us which backdrop we should use instead of just doing it himself. This made the day much more enjoyable. However, having lots of staff who Emily didn’t ask to get smart cloths before hand, was very difficult for Emily because she had to get costumes in a very short amount of time. First there was 3 women in christmas jumpers, there where taken in a white background. They looked fine for there picture. David was the person who was getting members of staff to come in to act in the studio for about 10 minuets. Then there was the sports teacher and another bold person who I am not sure if he is a teacher, anyway Emily had to put cardigens on both of them, because what they where wearing looked slightly desosting and not very vintage. After we shot the two of them separately in two different backdrops,

Rolly came in and we dressed her in an apron and got a blank canvases and filmed her doing that, then got a fully painted picture and put it on the Ezel and took some pictures of her standing next to that. I did not get the black canvas, the painting and the easel, Barn and David did because I didn’t know where to find them. Then all of the premises team came in and they were really loud and defiantly not vintage, Emily tried her best to get costumes for them, but they all just looked really bad. So bad, it made Courtney cry with laughter. The last shot took quite a while to do because they were so loud. When we finished, they all left, and we all packed everything away. As for my other job, script supervisor, Josh had covid, so Liam had to do his job of doing the slate and I helped him with that, this meant I knew the slate number when it was good, I was able to get the audio files down, but because I was also doing set design, I couldn’t get the camera file, so I wrote on notes that whoever was ordering files, - which was probably going to be Jacob – they would have to look at the slate number in the shot. On Thursday we are going to film down at Weatherspoon's in Bodmin, I don't know if I can go down there early because we don't have the keys, so it is a mystery to me weather I would be going to college or weather spoons first.

We were supposed to do a shoot the day before of the interior of the shop, but Robbin was ill and Blue's baby was ill so we had to move the filming date of the inside of the shop to a different day. That date would be next year. Tuesday the 13th we where able to set up for only the shoot with Blue, Chris and Magnos and nothing for Robbin as she was in London. So I came in early and did set design and it wasn't necessarily needed as Blue was running really late and I could have come in at a later time to do set design. When Emily came in, we picked out the costume that Chris was going to wear and left him to put it on. Blue came in with Magnos at 10:30, by this time, Magnos was really nervous and was crying a lot, Blue was able to settle him down while we went to get plants down in Science. We went back up to the studio with the plans and me and Keon set the plants up to be seen in the shot, then we took about 20 minuets to film Blue and Chris trying to get Magnos to smile, then when we finally got that shot, we tried to get Magnos to get one of his toys so we could take the futuristic picture of Magnos dyeing. However, it took absolutely ages for him to

leave Blue. When he finally did leave Blue we took the picture as fast as we could. Then we all packed the studio away and went to the classroom to finish off work that needed to be finished, while Blue took Magnos home. Now, we where going to have a costume change of Blue and Chris changing there casual smart costumes to Black to make out that there child had died, but I think that may have taken longer, because I am pretty sure Magnos wouldn't have aloud for Blue to change.
BTS
Today Rodin was in, so I came in early to do set design, which Blue helped me do as I had to move 2 tables and some large dark room things for the scene. At the same time, Emily and some other people came in so, they did there job while I set up for the scene. We had 4 pictures that had already been processed by Blue which was really helpful as I had no clue how to do it myself. We then hung those pictures up on the sting with pegs which where put up by lights either side of the two tables that we set up. Then Ellie came in to do lighting, and Robin came in with her costume on. When Ellie finished doing lighting and the camera had been set up, we started filming, when it got to the 3rd take, I remembered to use the squerty bottle to wet the pictures, so I started doing that every 5 minuets because the lights where making it dry again. This was quite annoying for my other job, script supervisor, because when I had to do that job, I also had to make sure the pictures where wet at the same time, so instead of getting the audio and camera files I simply took down the slate number, which took way less time. Usually when I try and get the audio and camera files, it takes forever and sometimes I end up not actually getting them, so I just thought getting only the slate number would be the best decision. When we did the shots on the tripod, Blue when out to sort her class out and James did a bunch of different angles around Robin where she was doing things in the studio. Then Blue came back in and together we turned the tables/ everything around to do the reverse shots which took very little time to do and soon after we started filming the reverse shot of that. This time filming didn't feel as long as previous times, it may have been down to me actually doing set design, which made the prosses of filming less exhortingly long, but Emily also said the same thing, so maybe it was better than the last few times filming. Anyway, after filming Robin from the reverse shot, we packed that stuff away and set up for the sequence part, so Robin changed into the best costume so far in my opinion. However, there wasn't point in changing and setting up the studio, as we had to get out for the people who had it booked out next. I think we only got 2 shots of Robin setting up and then we had to leave. Emily was quite annoyed at this because we didn't get many shots of Robin in her beautiful costume, so Emily said she was going to get her to wear it again, she doesn't know where yet, but she was determined to get that costume in again somewhere. At the same time that we where filming Robin doing the sequence stuff, everyone started to pack away and take things to the classroom/ the office. When they where finished filming, we all helped to pack away the studio and all went on an hour brake. After the brake, we came back and edited. We we film the rest in the new year.

BTS
26 days into the new year, finally we shot on location. First I stayed behind with Emily to help Emily with costumes/ waiting for the actors at college to show up and put them on. By the time Robin and Charley had got to college and put on there costumes, Blue and a few other people in the class had already gone down to the location and I had assumed they had set up a little or cleaned the window, but when Robin drove us down, they had just started to clean the window. I know at the start of this I said I would have preferred to do my job instead of others doing it for me, but the windows were really dirty and I would have liked the whole class (If they where not busy) to clean the windows, because we didn't end up filming until 11:30, because the windows took forever to clean and everything else took forever to set up because of the set back with the windows. On the walls there was a lot of Blue tack, which looked not very pretty, so Blue got Emily and Robin to go and find some tipex and paint over it. This was lightly difficult to get a hold of because Emily texted me, telling me that she needed ID to buy tipex, as they thought that they where going to buy it to sniff it. Anyway, we did get it in the end when Robbin ran off to get her ID in the car. In that time we started filming outside, but more set design was needed inside, so a few of us were still doing a bit more set design inside. When we were setting up a lot of people were walking by and asking what it was and actually thought there was a new shop being done up. We were mostly finished when the other actors came down and started rehearsing there lines/ getting into costume. Then me and the rest of the girls who where helping me had finished set design and sat down, while the others filmed. It was freezing as well as discusting in the shop, lots of us were really cold and towards the end, none of us could feel our hands. When we finished, everyone helped put camera equipment into Blues car, we left the stuff that wasn't expensive behind in the shop and loaded all the other equipment into Blues car. Then me and Emily waited for my dad to pick us up, drop Emily off at college and take me home.
BTS
27th January, today dad took me up to college as ushal and I waited for people to show up. Emily wasn’t in and left me resposnible for costumes. So I got the sewtcase that she asked me to use and got the cloths that she talked to me about when talking about the scene and what they should wear. Then I found a piece of paper with Emilys hand wrighting on it, which explained everything a lot better. When Robin got there I gave her the piece of paper and she put on the cloths that the piece of paper (Emily) asked her to put on. Emily had been idalising the dress that she wanted Robin to wear for that shoot, throughout the entire production, but I don’t think she wore it because Robin described the dress as really uncomfitable and almost imposibale to get into. Somehow, she could easly get the zipe up to put it on, but to take it off it took 3 people to get it back down. I was considering using sizers and cutting Robin out of the dress, thankfully it didn’t come to that. But that was at the end, when we finished. When Robin got the dress on, she drove me down as Charley was going to come later at 1:00 when all the other actors where going to come down. When we got down there at 10:30, the boys were starting to do the set design. Again, I said this

yesterday, it would have helped me if the boys did the set design earlier, when they got in, instead of waiting for really late to do the set design. Even though I said that I would have prefered to do it myself rather than sitting around all day as I did in the first shoot. However saying this we didn’t start filming until 1:00, so I understand the wait to set design. Anyway, all that was needed for set design was to make it look run down, so we put brown paper up on the windows. In the reast of the time me and the girls went down to costa and got some coffies and stayed down there for about an hour to keep warm. Then we went back up and Blue had put tape on the outside of the windows to make it look more like they are just getting the keys in the flashback scene. This actually helped me and was what I wanted people to do yesterday before I got to the location at 10:00. Anyway, when the other actors got there, we were already set up and were ready to start filming. There was a few issues with cars driving past/ beeping which messed with the audio. So we made the actors wait for the cars to go past and wait for a patch where there was no cars going up the road. This was slightly dificualt, but we eventually did it. Later, when we finnished and started putting equiptemnt in Blues car, there was hardly any cars driving past, which was weird and made us all think that everyone hurd about the short film and were just trying to mess with us, by driving past. Anyway, that’s a wrap and we are all glad that none of us had to go back to that location again, because it was so cold. Not all the cloths in the world could keep you warm in that place. There was a briefe moment where the eating was on, but it was barly anything and so high you had to stand on a chair to get only your hands warm.
